Ronkonkoma, NY --- On Thursday afternoon, October 25th, Connetquot teachers and parents took part in a state-wide effort to Educate NY Now! Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Tony Felicio, Jr., organized rallies at four of the districts 11 schools in an effort to demand that our state government fulfills New Yorks Constitutional obligation to provide all students with a quality education. The CTA recently joined Educate NY Now, a coalition that unites parents, students, educators, administrators, unions, school board members, community organizations, civil rights groups and education advocates.
Ronkonkoma, NY --- Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Anthony Felicio, Jr., along with several members of the organization, joined with Mr. Ken Mangan for his 7th annual Every Childs Dream dinner which was held at Sayville HS on December 14th. Mangan, along with over 100 volunteers, hosted a very special night for over 700 invited needy neighbors. During the two dinner sittings guests were served snacks, a nutritious dinner and dessert followed by the opportunity to select from a variety of items collected for their use.
Bohemia, NY --- On behalf of the entire membership, Tony Felicio, Jr., President of the Connetquot Teachers Association wants to congratulate Cristin Hammel, Kristen Fantry, Jonathan Pope, Emily Cangeleri , and Stephanie Plochochi (Cassagne) for being granted tenure at this past Tuesday nights Board of Education meeting. Congratulations to all of them and best of luck to them in all of their future years teaching the students of Connetquot.
Bohemia, NY --- On Tuesday evening, May 17th, Mr. Anthony Felicio, Jr, President of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) hosted a reception and awards ceremony for the winners of the organizations annual essay contest. Held at the colorfully decorated library at Connetquot High School, Felicio and CTA committee members, welcomed the selected students, their parents and the teachers who made a difference in their lives. Each of the five winning students received an attractive certificate, a copy of their winning essay, and a check for $500.
People already know that the teaching profession is a very noble profession and in our own country, teachers are seen as such a precious and invaluable.
Bohemia, NY --- On Friday, October 18th, Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Anthony Felicio, Jr., welcomed the newest members of the teaching family to the Snapper Inn Restaurant in Oakdale. 22 educators, probationary, part-time and leave replacement, were invited to attend this welcome dinner, to meet the veterans and retirees.

Bohemia, NY --- On September 10th, at its Board of Directors meeting, the Connetquot Teachers Association presented an award to Rich Thomas, a long time teacher member of the Association and outgoing Insurance Ombudsman. President, Tony Felicio, Jr. of the CTA read the following, In recognition of your many years of service to the CTA and its membership, and your tireless efforts in support of Union causes, on this day, September 10, 2013, we give you this award. The entire organization thanks Rich for his service and wishes him well now that he is officially fully retired.

According to Jared Bernstein, a labor economist with the Economic Policy Institute in Washington, states that “Most teachers are underpaid at least $5,000 a year, based on their education and skills… Due to this underpay Bernstein states that Low salaries is an under supply of skilled persons” ( neatoday 2000).
Bohemia, NY --- On Thursday, May 15, 2014, Connetquot Teachers Association President, Tony Felicio, Jr. recently attended the Connetquot Retiree Teachers Association luncheon held at Captain Bills. Tony said, I always enjoy these luncheons where I get to see colleagues from the past and talk about past times as well as share with them the current goings on in our district.
Ronkonkoma, NY --- Connetquot Teachers Association President Anthony Felicio, Jr., recently congratulated Foreign language teacher Vanessa Flowers on her choice of a visiting guest speaker. On March 23rd Vanessa welcomed an FBI Special Agent from the NYC office, who is also a Connetquot graduate. This Special Agent agreed to talk to her students about the importance of speaking a foreign language in todays world.
